The Global Resource Center for Inclusive Education (GRC) works toward systemic improvement of education programs, practices, and policies that affect underserved and disadvantaged populations (including people with disabilities). Our missions are to provide culturally-responsive services and to contribute to the knowledge base of inclusive and special education approaches worldwide.
The GRC carries out its missions through a coordinated array of services:
Program Evaluation. We use research methods to work with nations and non-governmental organizations to evaluate inclusive education programs.
Workforce Development. Our experienced staff provides teacher trainers, higher education administrators, and Ministry of Education officials with state-of-the-art approaches to improving teacher training. We also offer distance-learning and on-site coursework from qualified faculty at the University of Minnesota and short-term study tours in the United States.
Policy Development and Analysis. We help nations develop policies related to inclusive education and analyze existing policies for feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.
Basic Education. We offer literacy training and basic education in informal, non-formal, and formal education settings. Programs are designed to meet the unique needs of school-aged children or adult learners.
Data Collection and Monitoring (including Student Assessment). We provide data collection and monitoring services and tools for use in policy and program planning. Monitoring services also include development of inclusive and accessible classroom-based or national assessment systems.
Media Services and Information Technology (IT) Support. We have the capacity to produce documentary films, training videos, and other multi-media productions.
Service Delivery Consultation for Persons with Disabilities. We provide consultation in early childhood, school-aged, or adult services for persons with a wide range of disabilities. Services include (but are not limited to): early intervention, independent living skills, inclusive education pedagogy, formal and informal assessment, and community-based supports.
